ViewerTrack - global TV coverage and audience tracking

By accessing official data from TV bureaux from around the world, we know the global coverage and audience performance for all sporting events. futures sport + entertainment was described in the Financial Times as:

"The best source of international viewing data"

Rather than taking these figures at face value, we verify all published audience data conducting a rigorous checking process to ensure that all data are valid. For example, a programme may be logged as "Football", rather than identifying the teams that played in that match and the tournament in which they were playing. We access data from multiple sources in order to ensure that the program descriptions are correct and coverage and audience data are correctly assigned by sporting event.

We never report on potential reach or guesstimate viewership. As a result, the very accurate insight we provide on TV viewing figures by answering clients' questions includes:

  1. How many people watch the sporting event globally?
  2. Which countries attract the highest viewing figures?
  3. What are my key audience growth markets?

Audited data are not available for all countries. Where these do not exist, we use econometric modelling to forecast viewing figures for those channels, in order to provide a truly global perspective. We believe these forecasts are the most accurate in the industry, given they are based upon detailed understanding of the global sports and media landscapes.

We also answer questions for our clients on their TV coverage arrangements such as:

  1. On which channels and in which countries is the sports event televised?
  2. How many hours of coverage are aired?
  3. What is the split in coverage between free-to-air and pay-TV?
  4. What are the year-on-year trends in coverage?

All of our research is conducted on a level-playing field basis, to enable our clients to benchmark their TV coverage and audience figures against those for rival events. As well as providing factual data, we also add interpretation and explanations of the reasons behind coverage and audience trends.
